Kenya Mighty

Kenya is an advocate for creating educational outcomes that empowers students to learn finance and coding. She believes that students should be taught autonomy as early as possible, so they can avoid the rude awakening; a realization young African-Americans face when coming into adult-hood; finding a sufficient livelihood without financial resources. She earned her Bachelors Degree at Lehman College in Business Administration. She founded Nest Music in 2009. She is currently studying Front-end and Back-end web development at Pursuit. In her spare time, she hosts karaoke vocal mind wellness events.

Lire Bolden

Lire is a dedicated Bronx-raised artist with a passion for educating the next generation of young artists and musicians. She attended Boston University for technical theater production and is currently pursuing a degree in business administration to aid in her current position at the Nest. Past artistic credits include several chamber choir tours and performances, a plethora of acting and lighting design credits in plays and musicals, as well as production and direction of a one-act festival.

Linda Marks

Linda is aspiring to be a Full-Stack Program Engineer dedicated to educating young people in the art of creating ideas and worlds for the purpose of solving problems. She received her bachelors degree at Stanford University in Economics. She currently works at Google on statistical algorithm expansion. Her hobbies are rebuilding

We charge a flat rate for afterschool pickup from school within a 3-mile radius and the additional services of tutoring/homework help, music lessons, coding and finance are totally included.

Tutoring and Homework Help

Children will receive academic liaison services with an experienced mentor who is familiar with the school system. We guide your child through their own life endeavors, while providing academic empowerment. Your child will also be exposed to lessons in music and instrumentation.
Weekly lessons in Coding & Finance

Our $499 package provides students with education in the Javascript coding language, leading them down the path to becoming a junior web developer. Salary in this field starts at $90,000 annually.
Snacks and eventing meals

Did you know in most schools your child has lunch at 12 o'clock or earlier? We provide an evening snack and afternoon lunch in the form of sandwiches, pizza and other health options. Many students don't eat lunch because school lunch is not always tasty.
Pickup from neighboring schools

Pick up from schools within a three-mile radius is no additional cost to parents. What does that mean ? It should be no more than 1.5 miles to go to school and 1.5 returning. There is a 15 dollar charge for each additional mile after 3 mile radius.

How can I register for the Nest After School Program?

You can register and purchase your child's slot right here on our website. Just choose one of three packages or you can try us out for a week for only $99.99. You can call us (718) 994-6378 to make an appointment for a site visit or watch our site walkthrough video. Also to register in-person and complete an application and medical signing by your children's doctor along with a non-refundable deposit of 50% to hold your child's space.

What are the enrollment requirements?

We require parents to provide state or federal identification.
A medical form completed by the child's doctor.
A completed application/contract and enrollment fee.
Once you have submitted all the required documents, your child's information will be evaluated by our review board based on our ability to provide proper services for your child.
Our program has limited slots, so on occasion students will be added to our waiting list if slots aren't available.

What if I'm late to pick up my child?

There will be a late fee associated, $1.00 dollars per minute.

What if my child's school is outside the 3 mil radius?

For some schools that are outside of our three-mile radius, there is a $15 dollar charge per extra mile. And this is subject to

What if my child has an IEP in school?

Parents with children with IEP must make the program aware during the registration process. Failure to disclose this information may result in removal from the summer program. Our staff can review the IEP with you and discuss the needs of your child and work with you to provide real outcomes for your child's learning experience at Nest Music.

Also, while in our care, if we notice that your child may need to be evaluated and receive an IEP, we will inform parents so they can take the best course of action so their child can be empowered in their learning.

What activities will my child be exposed to?

2:30 pm to 3:30 pm Check-in (snack-time and homework help)
3:30 pm to 3:45 pm group activity (discussion about lesson)
3:45 pm to 4:15 pm performance of activity.
4:15 pm to 5:15 pm Reflection on the activity.
5:15 pm to 6:00 pm pick up time.

Are there any discounts available?

Nest Music offers several discounts:

Siblings discounts of $50 after one child is registered.
Special Offers discounts via email, so look for those.
Parents can receive discounts through our Affillates Program.

Do you accept ACS/HRA Vouchers?

Yes, if you have an ACS/HRA Voucher, all you have to do if bring the application in so you can fill out your portion and submit it to your case worker.

If you don't have a voucher, you can check your eligibility or call 311 and let them know you'd like to apply for a Childcare Voucher.
